Over and over, copyright experts have told the government the best way to reduce online piracy in Australia is to make entertainment content affordable and available.

Once again, the numbers back them up. On Friday, consumer advocacy group Choice released a follow-up to its 2014 Piracy Survey, which shows piracy levels in Australia are dropping thanks to the increasing availability of legal streaming options.

Talking to more than 1,000 Australians in July, Choice found that 17% said they were regular pirates, down from 23% in 2014. Thirty percent of respondents said they had pirated content at least once during the year, compared with 33% in 2014. Read more…
